Back in Taiwan

Yes folks, I’m back! I’ve been here for 3 days now. So far i havnt done much worth noting here (cause i really dont want this to turn into the kind of blog where u find posts like “today i had noodles for lunch”). What I  can tell u about is the trip to Hong Kong. When talking to Yini about visiting her we decided to start by a mini holiday in HK so we met at the airport and huged for a long time. after gathering our stuff we headed in to town and the bustling area of Mong kok to find a cheap hotel. Quite frankly i think its part of the budget travelers Hong Kong experiance to climb some dilapidated, dirty stairs to find a hotel room the size of a shoe box.

From there on it was basiclly a standard Hong Kong trip with the standard Hong Kong atractions. You can find a descripion of most of it in one of my earlier posts. We started out with the victoria harbour lightshow and being tired, that was it for the first day. Next day we took the star ferry, then went up to victoria peak to look out over the city. from there we went to the cozy little area of the midlevel escalators with all its shops and restaurants. There we had some of the best hamburgers ever for dinner. Then it was back up to the peak to get the night view of the city.

The next day started out with another repetition for me, the Ngong ping cable car and the big buddha statue. It was nice to do it a second time but, felt less special. When we came down with the cable car we took a turn off the standard track. By a bumpy local bus we go to Tai O fishing village. The first thing we saw was a street were everyone was selling some kind of dreid sea creatures. But then we finally came out of that we saw what we had been looking for. The stilt houses. Almost the whole town was resting on wooden stilts out in the water. It was absolutely brilliant. Not only is it cool to see stilt houses but most of them were covered by grey sheet metal and there was junk just about everywhere. Old dishwasher drums turned into fireplaces and so on. Everyone who visits hong kong knows about the skyscrapers and the light and such but this is more of a secret and its great. U can just stroll around for hours.

From there we headed back to the city by ferry and found a russian restuarant by the midlevels which was nice and that was pretty much the end of or trip. Some windowshopping in the ladies market in the evening and the day after was all we had time for. Thats it for now.
