And we go north

The day after dinner with Nils we had planned to go back down to Göteborg but that plan was changed when my mother invited us to come crayfishing in the summer house up north. We could not say no to that invitation so north we went. We got to the summer house around lunch and my aunt and here family were already there. We spent the afternoon preparing the crayfish cages, swimming in the lake (at least some of us, not Yini) and playing with my cousins little children. Then came the big moment, setting the cages in the water. of course the two children wanted to go with us, their mother with them and of course Yini. We set out and everyone got to throw a cage or to in the lake and then almost everyone got to try rowing the boat. There was a bit of a current so it wasnt so easy and the kids were uncoordinated but cute. In the end though, I had to row back myself.

Yini with two crayfish

In the evening we had crayfish for dinner and it was a small but generally nice crayfish party. After dinner me and Yini went out to check the cages and even though we did not get that many we got the biggest crayfish i have ever seen. Yini was as happy as ever. The next day we got up early, had breakfast and headed home on a six houre train. The day after that we went out to the archipelago again and had a nice time this time as well and that, was pretty much it. The last day we didnt do much except hang out in Gothemburg together before going to the airport. Saying goodbye was, of course, hard. We hugged for a long time and Yini cried like there was no tomorrow and even if i didnt cry I didnt want to let her go.

So that is the story of Yinis first vist to Sweden, but certainly not the last.

More Stockholm and onwards

Day two in stockholm was mainly a museum tour. We started with the national museum full of old paintings and then the modern musem full of rahter new ones. Yini the artist of course enjoyed herself, I thought it all rather boring but hey, what dont you do for love, eh? we endedd the day with the museum town Skansen and a nice dinner at a vegetarian restuarant. That very evening we when back to my parrents and spent another night night there. The next day we wandered around in Wadköping some more until it was time for the main reason that we did not go directly back to Göteborg.

Back with my parrents again

We went to see my good friend Nils (or Nisse as he is often called). Me and Nisse have allways been the kind of friends who have endless discussions about the whole world and just about everything elese as well. So after a nice dinner that Nils cooked, with quite a bit of help from me, we ended up tralking for hours. Yini and Nisses girlfriend Miao Miao Chatting away in Chinese and me and Nils in Swedish. It was a very nice evening and felt like the old days standing on the streetcorner with Nils in the middle of the night.

Girlfriend adventure continues

From the home base at my parrents house me and Yini set out for stockholm the next day. First up the old town which we passed through on the way to our hostel. The little streets are really nice and I realized, as I never have before, that it is indeed possibly to be a tourist in your own country and something that i have to do more. Of course I let Yini lead the way, and go look in whatever streets and shops she desired since this trip was for her. Because of this (though I in now way blame her) i lost my way and we ended up by the royal palace at the wrong side of the island (everything in stockholm is an island). It was more spectacualr than I remembered and we were in time to see that changing of the gaurds. We did not in fact watch the actuall change as the crowds were to big but we met the soldiers coming in on our way out.

When we had found or way back to the right side of the island we walked to our hostel which was inside an old boat. There we rested for a while then went tothe Vasa museum whre they display the old Vasa ship which they fished out of the see, nearly intact, after it sank some 300 years ago. It was more marvelous than i can remeber and Yini loved it. When we had looked at old wood long enough we left and met up with my brother Tedde and had dinner and talked for several hours.

Nice artwork on the back of the boat, and a cute girl

Girlfriend gone...

Yini left yesterday to go home to Taiwan, i miss her already. The last two weeks have been great. The first few days we spent in Göteborg, mainly just hanging around. We were downtown to look at hte culture festival and go shopping and went to IKEA (she wanted to) and Universeum (a big nature museum). All of that was fun and yet very relaxed, no rush to different tourist spots like you would expect some times. The first real adventure we did was go to skärgården (the archipelago).  We took a boat to a small island called Vargö and just wandered around and enjoyed the nature for a few hours before going home.

On the way home again

The next day we went to the park Slottsskogen and wandered around for a while. We also played mingolf, and Yini was surprisingly good for her first time. By now we had done most of the things you can do in Gothemburg so we got on a train and went to Örebro, my parrents hometown (I maintain that I live in Göteborg). There we looked at the main tourist attractions, the castle as well as well as the museum town Wadköping and went on a small bike trip to the nearby lake. At the end of the day we had a nice dinner with my parrents.
