Last Thursday was one of the three big chinese festivals, the dragon boat races. The basic idea behind the festival is to race in boats shaped like traditional chinese dragons and eat a kind of rice dumpling called zong si. Now a dayes many different organisations and companies compete in the races and of course our school had a team. I tried to join the team but signed up too late. Johan however, managed to sign up on time so on thursday morning, me, Yini and Kai went down to Hsinchu harbour to cheer for him and the team. There were many teams and we had to wait a while between races so most of the time was spent just hanging out and talking while waiting for NCTUs team to race. It was quite fun to watch but not really that special since we have imported this kind of event to my home town in Sweden. In the end, NCTUs team finished on second place, not too bad considering how much Johan had complained about the synchronization of his team members.

At all bigger events in Taiwan there are vendors selling food and this was no exception. However we were disapointed to find that they did not sell any zong si so we had to make do with other things. All in all it turnd out to be a pretty good day.
